U.S. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland spoke Thursday on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, an evening focused on the future as Kamala Harris formally accepts her party’s nomination for president.

Haaland spoke about Harris’ positions on climate change, while former President Donald Trump calls it a hoax.
“An American president must lead the world in tackling climate change,” Haaland said. We need a president who understands that assignment. I know [Harris’] record. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz fight for a future where we all have clean air, clean water and healthy communities.”
Harris’ speech is her first official chance to offer her vision for the country to voters. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz formally accepted the vice presidential nomination the day before.
